The Future of Heating

Driving the Energy Transition with Modern Pellet Heating

Sustainable living and building – it's the talk of the town, and many are putting it into practice. Whether solar installations or a long-overdue heating upgrade, your home offers countless ways to advance the energy transition. We're introducing some of these opportunities in our new series "Renewable Energy Sources." First up: pellet heating, which generates warmth and hot water by burning environmentally friendly wood pellets. "Many of our customers and current pellet heating users had reservations about this system initially," explains Jürgen Hohnen, owner of the eponymous company specializing in energy-saving solutions. "But in nearly every case, we've been able to address their concerns." Advances in technology have significantly improved pellet heating's comfort and efficiency. The system operates fully automatically, adjusting to your home's changing heat demands without any manual intervention. Beyond its quiet, comfortable operation and reduced energy costs, pellet heating qualifies for government subsidies of up to 70 percent – making it a compelling alternative to heat pumps, especially since existing radiators can be retained. It's also the superior choice for high heat demands in older homes or multi-family buildings. Wood pellets are compressed sawdust and wood shavings from the sawmill industry, bonded without chemical additives. Since combustion releases the same amount of CO₂ that a tree would emit through natural decomposition, pellets burn carbon-neutral. "All of this makes pellet heating an energy-efficient solution that works beautifully as a replacement for oil or gas systems in existing buildings," Hohnen notes. His company recently expanded to include reliable pellet delivery through its own fleet, ensuring uninterrupted supply of premium-quality fuel.
