René Eich and Nicki Trimborn's story began in a Cologne workshop: René was apprenticing as a carpenter while Nicki managed operations. After Eich graduated from the Cologne International School of Design, the two founded Wood U? in 2012. From their Longerich studio, they design and craft furniture and home accessories in wood and concrete. Their tablet and smartphone holders have become their signature pieces, enabling effortless work, browsing, and communication from the sofa. The Wood U? Chill model grips securely on soft surfaces and transitions seamlessly to standing desk work. It doubles as a breakfast tray or laptop stand. The Wood U? Style pairs a concrete base with an integrated wooden ledge, accommodating iPads and tablets. Beyond holders, Eich and Trimborn custom-design furniture. One standout is a bespoke bar cabinet with a Richlite counter and oak facades, featuring integrated USB charging ports on the top surface. Their coat rack showcases premium furniture linoleum with a symmetrical composition and a backlit display shelf—a thoughtful blend of form and function.
