Neckarliebe: Designing products rooted in local heritage

In 2006, Julia and Daniel Zürn launched Neckarliebe in their native Stuttgart—starting with an unconventional idea: key rings crafted from vintage matchbox cars and spark plugs. Today, the husband-and-wife team has expanded their collection to include a concrete series and photographs capturing unexpected perspectives of Stuttgart and towns along the Neckar River, all available through their online shop. The designs for their Konkret concrete collection take shape in their studio in Stuttgart's western district, where each piece is meticulously handcrafted. No two objects are identical. The untreated concrete surface—ranging from silky smooth to naturally porous—gives each item its distinctive character. Beyond classic concrete grey, they also offer a dark-tinted concrete option. The collection features bowls in various sizes and shapes for fruit, vegetables, or keys, alongside wine coolers and knife blocks.

The Heimat photographic series showcases the couple's favorite Stuttgart locations—from iconic landmarks to hidden gems worth discovering. It's a piece of home for those who've left, and a reminder for those who've stayed. The collection features Stuttgart scenes alongside photographs from nearby Neckar towns: Esslingen, Reutlingen, Tübingen, and Schwäbisch Gmünd. Each image is a high-quality photo print (13.5 x 13.5 cm) mounted on 2.2 cm thick MDF boards, designed to stand freely or hang on a wall. For those who want a taste of Neckar culture with every meal, Neckarliebe offers custom snack boards featuring Heimat series motifs. Recently, the studio has also launched a limited-edition grain brandy: Mauersegler Korn, crafted from regional ingredients and distilled at a small producer along the Neckar.
