Regional natural materials and thoughtfully detailed architecture have defined the exclusive character of Parkhotel Egerner Höfe on Lake Tegernsee since last year. From deluxe suites to intimate double rooms and rustic alpine suites – following acquisition by the Ehrmann dairy family and redesign by LSA Architects, the hotel and its Michelin-starred restaurant now present a completely transformed identity, inside and out. The comprehensive renovation took twelve months, resulting in a design that is not only more luxurious, but deeply connected to its natural surroundings.

Views of Wallberg mountain, the Tegernsee valley meadows, and the pristine alpine lake have been woven into the design narrative. Pre-greyed larch wood now clads the formerly uninsulated white plaster façade, while horizontal timber battens and crossing round-wood balcony railings create a contemporary reinterpretation of regional vernacular. Inside, Walsertal granite in the spa, wood applications and wall panelling, shell limestone floors, natural oak parquet, and a restrained palette of earthy tones establish a nature-rooted aesthetic with refined luxury. Leather furnishings, metal lighting fixtures, and backlit surfaces add minimalist sophistication. Nature extends indoors through "tree gardens" – glazed, open-top cubes planted with living trees in both the restaurant and spa. Structurally, the 1960s eastern wing has been seamlessly integrated with the 1990s addition, unifying the ground and basement levels. This expanded foundation now accommodates an expansive wellness area with pool, lobby, lounge, bar, breakfast spaces, and the gourmet restaurant "Dichter" – formerly housed across the street. Sustainability was paramount: geothermal energy and heat pumps manage climate control, a gas-fired cogeneration plant handles hot water production, and the ventilation system incorporates heat recovery.
