Refined Elegance with Soul

Intentional Accents, Organic Flow

For a Berlin villa nestled on the city's edge, interior designer Katharina Klotz crafted a spatial concept that seamlessly marries contemporary elegance with inviting warmth.

Sculptural ring-shaped pendant lights create focal points and cast a soft, welcoming glow. The open-plan kitchen and dining area centers on a generous island featuring an integrated cooking surface—a functional workspace that doubles as a natural gathering hub. An adjacent glass-fronted display cabinet with concealed lighting adds a touch of refinement, highlighting the home's premium finishes. Flowing floor-length curtains bring intimacy and comfort, while expansive windows flood the space with natural light and a sense of openness. Nature-inspired materials—including the dark, textured countertop with its subtle warm patina—infuse the room with quiet sophistication. Together, the warm brown palette, black accents, and gold touches create a timeless, luxurious ambiance: a home that is both impressive and genuinely welcoming.

Thoughtful spatial planning reinforces this balance between function and beauty. The expansive lounge, anchored by a circular area rug, becomes a defined sanctuary for relaxation. Rich moss-green velvet chairs introduce a natural vitality and invite lingering conversation. Sculptural side tables and carefully placed design elements add visual interest and movement. The result is a design that honors both openness and structure—creating an effortlessly sophisticated, inviting haven. Perhaps the project's greatest challenge lay in transforming the space's initially austere character into something genuinely warm and cohesive. Through strategic visualization and meticulous attention to detail, Katharina Klotz's team earned the client's confidence and brought the vision to life with finesse.

The design embraces a warm, welcoming atmosphere where every zone serves a distinct purpose. It generously accommodates guests while preserving a private sanctuary for residents. The thoughtfully planned 100 m² living and dining area breathes with openness—no cramped subdivisions needed. Instead, smart spatial dividers and islands subtly define zones, striking an elegant balance between social gathering and personal retreat. The result feels like a cozy "nest"—enveloping and secure, yet maintaining the expansive spirit of the design.
