Sculptures of Glass and Light
Handcrafted Creations with Luminous Presence
Passion for glass and the pure joy of creation define the work of Scholle Deubzer. Too intimate to be called a factory, glassmaker Rike Scholle and glass refiner Eduard Deubzer craft uniquely expressive glass objects. "Life and vitality are what drive my work," Scholle explains, noting that most pieces become lighting objects because "glass truly comes alive with light." Her vision: to make glass shimmer and glow with intention. Working intuitively with her partner, they experiment freely—developing ideas, discarding them, rethinking, reimagining, and moving forward. With considerable expertise but without fixating on production volumes or profit margins. "I simply love creating beautiful things," says Deubzer, who primarily works with glass and steel. Their Drop lamp exemplifies this creative spirit. Each fixture is hand-blown at the furnace and shaped individually through practiced technique, then fitted with an LED via a custom-designed connector system. "Our Drops cast extraordinary light patterns throughout a space, transforming the atmosphere entirely," Scholle reflects with evident enthusiasm. Drop comes standard as a single, triple, or five-pendant configuration—though custom arrangements are available for those seeking something different. The Cubes series represents another standout from their extensive collection: glass harmonizing with steel sheet in a pairing that feels effortless. Much like the partnership that created it.
