Home away from home

With remote work now the norm, the office has evolved into something more – a second home where collaboration happens.

Adesso's new Munich headquarters sits in the city's vibrant eastern quarter, near the trendy Werkviertel district. The industrial-style structure—designed by Oliv Architekten—combines austere Anglo-American cast-iron aesthetics with practical functionality. Characteristic shed roofing maximizes natural light throughout. Düsseldorf-based interior design firm raumkontor, which has already created two adesso offices in Berlin and Hamburg, shaped the interiors of this 450-person, five-floor workspace.

The design philosophy is simple yet powerful: transform the office into a genuine "home away from home"—as dynamic and varied as the different rooms in a residence. Just as you move between kitchen, balcony, and sofa while working from home, employees here navigate between diverse workspaces: collaboration areas, interaction rooms, forums, kitchenettes, gaming zones, and quiet retreats for focused work. Bold colors—vibrant orange boxes, cheerful yellow accents in chairs and lighting, soft pink tones—deliberately contrast with the building's raw industrial aesthetic. Motivational quotes on colorful communication cubes spark creative thinking throughout. Upon arrival, a striking two-story atrium with a prominent reception desk sets the welcoming tone. A sculptural light installation draws visitors into the ground-floor restaurant and café, creating an inviting threshold between public and private work spaces.
