With a refined eye for materials and spatial dynamics, interior designer Constanze Schuchmann transformed a 2010 detached house in the Munich area into a harmonious living environment: modern, functional, and perfectly tailored to the owners' vision—a couple with a passion for cooking and entertaining friends. Years earlier, she had already modernized their previous apartment, and when they finally found their dream home, they naturally turned to the Gräfelfing-based designer to oversee its comprehensive renovation.

The original layout—with its separate kitchen, dining, and living zones on the ground floor—fell short of the owners' vision both aesthetically and functionally. Schuchmann responded with an open-plan kitchen anchored by a generous island, transforming the space into a social hub that flows naturally toward the dining area. Handcrafted by a master carpenter, the kitchen features a distinctive bronze-toned metal finish that echoes throughout the living spaces: the fireplace, stone accents in the sideboard, and tabletop all echo this warm metallic language. A sleek grey porcelain floor, paired with lacquered wooden baseboards in the same tone, unifies the entire ground floor and creates visual continuity between spaces. Behind a strategically positioned central wall sits the living area, which incorporates a double-sided glass fireplace as a focal point. The guest WC steals the show with its exotic jungle wallpaper, warm taupe ceramic details, and gunmetal fixtures. Upstairs, the original bathroom was reimagined as two ensuite shower rooms for the residents. Each of the three rooms—home office, lounge, and bedroom—received its own distinct personality through carefully curated wall finishes: the home office features autumn-toned brown wallpaper, the lounge showcases a sophisticated grey-blue floral design with a subtly distressed finish evoking aged artworks, and the bedroom captures a dreamy cloud motif that softens the asymmetrical lines of the pitched roof. All textile and wallpaper selections were made in close partnership with interior consultant Kerstin Bründl.
