Thoughtfully Designed

Product designer Rosi Weiße champions functionality and innovative thinking

Born and raised in Stuttgart, Rosi Weiße studied industrial design at Bergische University Wuppertal. After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Transportation Interior Design and her diploma in Industrial Design & Design Strategy, she established herself as an independent designer in 2012. Since then, she has collaborated with prestigious design studios while creating furniture and products in her western Stuttgart atelier—pieces that often reveal unexpected qualities.

Since conditions for design are typically established at the outset in conventional industrial design—such as formal language—Weiße prioritizes meticulous detailing in her work. She leverages qualities like matte and glossy finishes, textured and smooth surfaces, and the interplay of light and shadow to create distinctive products. Equally important to her are functionality and fresh perspectives on everyday objects. Consider the hotel desk she designed: it needed to harmonize with the hotel's aesthetic while enduring heavy use and frequent cleaning. Collaborating with interior architects at Geplan Design, Weiße selected durable solid wood veneer with electrical systems neatly integrated into the front surface. Her Upside Down Sports Water Bottle exemplifies her approach—it solves a real problem. Cyclists can drink effortlessly while riding since the drinking nozzle is positioned at the bottle's base, eliminating the need to flip it. Two removable screw caps ensure simple cleaning and refilling.
