Digital meets analogue

A Munich-based digital agency received inspiring new office spaces

Tablets "growing" from the ceiling, jungle wallpaper, XXL green plants and stylish furniture: these new office environments, created by the Munich, Düsseldorf and Berlin-based design and planning studio combine design for Munich-based diva-e, immediately convey the message that this is where a particularly creative team must be working on innovative projects related to the digital world. For the new flagship office "Home of Talents" at the revitalised former Siemens site near Munich's Ostbahnhof station, the three previous Munich offices of the digital transactional experience service provider were merged into 6,970 m² of space spread over three floors. With bright work and meeting rooms, creative areas, open work zones and a roof terrace with a view of the mountains, a spacious campus with a modern flair and feel-good quality has been created.

To this end, combine design took an exciting approach and first asked employees who diva-e actually is: "If diva-e were a person, where would she spend her holidays: in a metropolis, by the sea or in the mountains?" Or: "What kind of person would they be?" The answers were interesting: for example, that this person would be a trendsetter, creative and imaginative, with an eye for quality and good design. They would spend their evenings either in Michelin-starred restaurants or in casual little bars, or simply at home with a cup of tea and a book. "These answers, the close exchange with the customer and research about the company gave us a good basis for inspiration for the design," explains combine design project manager Darina Sagnayeva. At the heart of the diva-e quarter is a "working café" that conveys both innovative integration of digital media and a relaxed feel-good atmosphere. It is designed so that reception, work and events can take place in equal measure. The exciting "digital meets analogue" design concept highlights the "real" level with materials that can be experienced tactilely – in a warm base colour and with lots of textiles, leather and wooden surfaces, as well as plants. The digital level comes into play through monochrome colours, the open ceiling, into which a "sea" of technical, industrial pendant lights has been integrated, and an installation of tablets suspended from the ceiling. Beneath this, a circular seating element has been developed, in the centre of which green plants grow towards the digital installation. Calm furniture with rounded edges, purist shelves made of steel and wood, furniture with diverse surfaces and structures in various shades of brown on the dark real wood parquet flooring, together with the partly "jungle-like" interior design with wildly patterned plant wallpaper and eye-catching features such as the graphically designed counters in shades of green and seating furniture with monstera leaves, creating a particularly grounded atmosphere.
