Sustainability Comes Alive
Office spaces for an ecological and ethical fund management company that bring nature to the forefront of design
Sustainability is no longer just a matter of global environmental and economic policy—it's become essential to how we do business. Today, ethical and ecological responsibility increasingly shape investment and asset management decisions. That's why Ökoworld has woven these principles of humanity and sustainability into the very fabric of its corporate identity. Since 1975, the fund has delivered forward-thinking solutions for wealth building, retirement planning, and investment—always guided by ethical and environmental values. When architects Dominik Schlebes and Marc Maylahn of Düsseldorf's querstrichdrei designed the company's new headquarters in Hilden, they made sustainability their central focus, translating Ökoworld's mission into every spatial decision.
Step inside Ökoworld's new space, and it becomes immediately clear: the company's environmental commitment runs far deeper than its name. The interior celebrates nature's finest offerings—lush moss and grass-covered space dividers alongside untreated oak and other natural materials create a vibrant, living office environment. Over 400 square meters of space accommodate more than 14 workstations, a conference room, and two additional meeting areas. Thematic zones interpret the natural elements of earth, water, and air while providing warm, inspiring settings for client interactions. The "Air" conference room glows with a "cloud sky" light installation, while the "Water" meeting cube features a sustainably sourced carpet—ingeniously crafted from abandoned fishing nets and ocean plastic waste. Together, these thoughtfully curated spaces weave an engaging narrative throughout the office, creating an atmosphere where aesthetics and purpose align beautifully.
