Clean Lines and Colour
Marianne Steinborn crafts Nordic-inspired everyday ceramics
Marianne Steinborn's fascination with ceramic tableware began in childhood. Her grandmother was a ceramic painter at a pottery workshop, instilling in her a deep appreciation for handcrafted plates and cups. Yet it wasn't until 2020 that Steinborn pursued ceramics professionally—after years working in PR. The inspiration for her own label, indre, came while living in Bornheim through everyday moments: conversations with a ceramic artist who'd successfully shifted careers, and her own frustration at not finding matching lids for her ceramic bowls.
Each piece is timeless and understated—designed to elevate daily life without sacrificing practicality. Steinborn's ceramics are dishwasher safe and durable enough to handle the chaos of family living. But sustainability is equally central to her vision. Every cup, plate, and bowl is manufactured regionally in Germany. Better still, plates double as bowl lids, eliminating the need for plastic wrap or extra storage containers. The result? Less waste, less water and energy consumed, and more breathing room in your kitchen. Colors and forms work in concert, allowing pieces to mix and match seamlessly. Nordic design runs through Steinborn's work—clean lines and restrained tones define every collection.
