Green Design & Zero Waste
The Koos Hotel & Apartments puts sustainability at the heart of its design
Koos on Munich's Sonnenstraße sets a new standard for sustainable interior design. After an extensive renovation, the property unveils Scandinavian clarity paired with a thoughtfully integrated green concept. Upon entering any of the 95 rooms and apartments, you're immediately enveloped in a restorative calm: soft sage tones and organic color palettes, combined with light wood and oiled oak flooring, create a minimalist yet inviting atmosphere. Expansive windows drench the spaces in natural light, allowing each carefully curated piece of furniture to shine. Custom 3D lettering—"Angekommen" (Arrived) and "Ruhe" (Calm)—infuse personal character while complementing the modern aesthetic. The lobby embodies this philosophy perfectly: a vibrant social hub designed as a generous living room. A circular bar, intimate seating clusters, and open shelving lined with books make it an inviting space to settle in and stay awhile.
Living walls and botanical wallpapers bring nature indoors. A carefully maintained herb garden delivers fresh ingredients to the hotel's kitchen while serving as a verdant sanctuary for guests. An insect hotel stands as both a symbol and a tangible commitment to the property's sustainable ethos—actively supporting local biodiversity. The breakfast spread embraces zero-waste principles, offering abundant vegetarian and vegan selections sourced largely from regional producers. Digital systems eliminate paper throughout, while photovoltaics and a cogeneration plant power the hotel's sustainable operations.
