A place of tranquillity and wellness oasis

A symbiosis between builders and architects created a little paradise for three generations.

The clients considered their choice of architect to be a stroke of luck. She succeeded in getting a feel for the people she was building for and translated all their needs into wonderful architecture. We are referring to architect Stephanie Seidl, owner of Studio 2S in Grünwald, together with her partner Christoph Seidl. Architect Seidl understood how to implement her clients' wishes. The list was quite long: a temple of tranquillity, a wellness oasis, a pool, a house for a couple with two children and a granny flat for the parents. In summary, a three-generation house plus spa on a plot of land on the outskirts of Munich. The main focus for the professionally very busy couple was clearly on tranquillity and wellness.

The architects divided the space into two buildings: a single-storey building for the wellness area and a two-storey building for the residence with a granny flat in the basement. The main house forms the back of the ensemble, with the wellness oasis at right angles to it – both framing the pool. On the ground floor, with its open floor plan, the cooking, dining and relaxation areas are arranged in a row. The kitchen-diner with its spacious breakfast terrace has direct access to the garden with its herb garden and numerous fruit trees. The upholstered furniture in the living area is grouped around a fireplace. The dining area can also be directly connected to the garden and pool when the sliding glass doors are open. This openness and extension to the garden subjectively creates the impression of a large open ensemble of nature and living space – weather permitting. All bedrooms are located on the upper floor and both the children and parents have their own bathroom, while the rooms have their own loggias. The staircase connecting the ground floor and upper floor is also worth mentioning: it is a double staircase with special details and a glass railing. An external staircase and an internal lift lead to the granny flat in the basement. Large atriums ensure that the rooms are bright.

That leaves the centrepiece – the wellness oasis in the adjoining wing. It is equipped with a sauna, a steam shower, a whirlpool and relaxation loungers. Just a few steps away is the outdoor pool, inviting you to take a dip in its turquoise waters.
