Guest House in Ibiza: Elevated with Dekton

Cosentino's ultra-compact surface material runs throughout the home, creating striking design statements

Ibiza, the Spanish Mediterranean gem, is a year-round paradise. Villa Can Hector amplifies that magic beautifully. This guesthouse features three bedrooms and three bathrooms, a living room with a coffee bar, two terraces, and a pool—all recently reimagined by Munich-based Studio Paechthold. The interior design duo succeeded in creating a cohesive design narrative, with Dekton by Cosentino® serving as the unifying thread throughout the space.

"We stripped the existing guest house down to its bare bones and rebuilt it from the ground up," explain interior designers Anne and Benjamin Paechthold. "Like a boutique hotel, we designed each suite to stand on its own. The colour and material palette inspired the name of every suite: Golden, Ocean, and Sunset. In the Sunset bedroom, guests can watch the sea as the sun dips below the horizon."
Perched on a hillside, the main villa commands spectacular sea views. To share this retreat with friends and family, the adjacent guest house underwent a complete overhaul. While the main residence embraces minimalist, cubic architecture, the guest house now showcases soft forms and vibrant colour.
What started as a straightforward renovation evolved into a full transformation—one that extended across terraces and pool areas. The design covered every detail: custom furnishings, décor, tableware, even service pieces. The owners were so impressed with the finished retreat that they're still deciding which guests get which room.
Partnering with Local Spanish Suppliers
Despite being Germany-based, Studio Paechthold prioritized collaboration with Spanish manufacturers and selected materials that local island suppliers could readily work with. The strategy paid off. When the scope expanded, every modification and custom addition was handled seamlessly, with no logistical headaches.
Testing across Germany, Spain, and Belgium proved equally smooth. The flooring—both interior and exterior—needed to meet hotel-grade standards for durability, longevity, and low maintenance. "We needed something that could perform beautifully both indoors and outside. Dekton simply delivered."
