A new family home built to last—timeless design meets future-ready planning
Paths to finding the right architect aren't always straightforward. Such was the case with this striking cubic residence in Wiesbaden. The owners initially sought only project management support, but it soon became clear that the entire design required a complete overhaul. To realize their vision of an open, light-filled, and architecturally pure building, architect Carina Klein of Persy Projekte had to develop a comprehensive site plan, resolve the terrain's complexities, and reimagine the entire building design.
The owners had a precise vision for their new home: a Bauhaus-inspired residence with intelligent KNX automation built into every system, combined with a solution that would transform the sloping site into an almost level foundation. Inside the single-family home, this minimalist philosophy was carried through consistently—an open, loft-like floor plan unified with modern aesthetics. The result is a spacious arrangement defined by clean lines and a seamless flow between interior and exterior living spaces. Premium materials—oak wood and stainless steel—paired with bespoke built-in elements like custom shelving, hallway storage, and walk-in closets work alongside iconic design pieces to reinforce the purist approach. White-finished walls and ceilings, combined with white-oiled oak floorboards, create an atmosphere of serene calm throughout.
The bathrooms feature large-format Italian porcelain tiles, with the generous walk-in showers finished with oversized single-tile flooring for a seamless look. The smart home's KNX automation gives residents complete control over comfort and energy efficiency—all manageable from a tablet or smartphone, customized to suit their lifestyle.
The architect designed this family home with flexibility in mind. Currently, the owners' children occupy the upper floor, but the design allows the upper and attic levels to be sealed off as an independent residential unit whenever needed—a thoughtful provision for changing family circumstances.
