Perfectly Shaded
A family home receives thoughtfully designed windows and coordinated sun protection solutions
Flooded with natural light, spacious rooms feel extraordinary – floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors blur the boundary between inside and outside, creating bright, airy spaces that define modern living. But summer heat can quickly become a challenge. That's where Weiß & Weiß, a specialized window and door company based in Kirchheim near Munich, stepped in. For this family home, they provided an integrated solution covering everything from initial concept through final installation, incorporating multiple elegant sun protection options throughout.
The project features frameless integral aluminium windows, glass folding walls, textile sun protection, external blinds with CDL slats, roller shutters, and fall protection – all installed flush with the interior surfaces. The result speaks for itself: the expansive windows with slender anthracite frames give the house a distinctly modern aesthetic, while intelligent shading systems keep interior temperatures in check. The external blinds with Comfort and Design slats – CDL for short – set a new standard. Unlike conventional systems, their eccentric slat punching and generous overlap create a refined, seamless appearance when closed. This minimalist design aligns perfectly with contemporary architecture while delivering exceptional functionality. Closed slats prevent light penetration across the entire surface, and specially engineered guide rails eliminate side gaps – maximizing both comfort and privacy. The high opacity ensures residents enjoy complete discretion without compromise.
