Contemporary Design
Merlin C. Everding creates innovative furniture and products built for everyday living.
Merlin C. Everding studied product design at Berlin University of the Arts. In 2021, he founded Studio.mce, his own design studio—first in Berlin, then relocating to the Ruhr region that same year. Now based in Essen-Rüttenscheid, the Cologne-born designer creates furniture and everyday products with a singular question in mind: what does good design actually look like? To find answers, he develops ideas that blend innovation with design history, cutting-edge technology, and digital design methods.
The Frugal collection's shelves respond to the demands of contemporary living and working—versatile systems designed to evolve with your space. Their clean, timeless aesthetic transitions seamlessly from dining and living areas to reception spaces and offices alike. Constructed from powder-coated aluminum, these shelves offer lasting durability. The Frugal Glass Order collection features stackable borosilicate glasses in four sizes—ideal for beverages or reimagined as vases. The Mallow sofa curves generously for comfort, with solid ash wood accents that elevate its visual presence. Its backrest and armrests feature full-foam upholstery for lasting support. The Gordo sofa combines softness with an inviting presence through a unified design approach—the designer unified the armrests and backrest as a single, continuous form. An elastic core within the cushioning delivers exceptional seating comfort.
