Garden Getaway
A thoughtfully curated collection of pool, sauna, outdoor kitchen, and leisure spaces creates the perfect environment for true relaxation.
The water shimmers a brilliant blue in the sun – a sight that evokes vacation dreams and has become part of daily life for a Düsseldorf family. This transformation was made possible by an impressive pool positioned at the garden's heart, which the homeowner discovered at a Weerts Pools & Spa showroom. "He fell in love with one of our display models so completely that he wanted that exact pool – complete with automatic cover," recalls Florian Weerts.
While selecting the right pool proved straightforward, the installation presented unexpected challenges. Collaborating with structural engineer Oliver Petzel, who oversaw the overall design and site management, the team successfully navigated numerous obstacles. A ten-meter elevation change required careful consideration. An enormous crane with reinforced capacity was essential to lower the pool into place. Persistent heavy rains further complicated matters, necessitating the replacement of the naturally clay-rich soil. "Space was another major constraint," notes Weerts. "With the entire garden undergoing renovation, there was nowhere to store materials. We eventually used the adjacent monastery grounds as a staging area." Yet the finished result belies every difficulty encountered. The durable silver-grey hard-PVC pool – measuring 9 by 3.5 meters – delivers exceptional swimming pleasure. Integrated insulation and an insulating concrete base maximize heat retention and thermal efficiency. The energy-conscious heat pump system works in concert with solar shutters that harness the sun's energy to raise water temperature by 4 to 5 degrees. Advanced Blue Clear water treatment technology handles full automation and is discreetly housed in the home's basement alongside other mechanical systems. Everything operates seamlessly through the integrated home control system.
The pool, elegantly framed by large-format Italian ceramic stone pavers, now serves as the garden's natural centerpiece. A spa pavilion invites relaxation, complemented by a Renson terrace roof offering shade. An outdoor kitchen, comfortable lounge areas, and a classic car garage complete this private sanctuary. Beyond the carefully orchestrated aesthetic, the homeowner prioritized seamless access from his penthouse to the garden without any barriers – a requirement beautifully solved through the addition of an elevator.
