Bags with History

Kurzzug: Urban luggage and accessories with a story

A distinctive piece of Munich: Kurzzug bags are crafted from an extraordinary material – one with a past. The label recycles seat covers from Munich's original U-Bahn trains, which first ran during the 1972 Olympics over 50 years ago. Every undamaged cover is transformed into a bag or accessory with fresh, thoughtful designs – each one perfectly suited to urban living. The brand's products embody functional design and a clear, cohesive visual language that elevates each piece beyond a mere bag to become a tangible piece of Munich's history. Where these seat covers once faced disposal, they now find new purpose thanks to Wolfgang Bischoff. He co-founded the label in Maxvorstadt in 2016 and acquired full ownership in 2021.The transformation is meticulous: covers are carefully disassembled, cleaned, and cut to specification. Since the original U-Bahn seat covers are finite, each Kurzzug piece is handmade and limited – truly unique.Take the "Wochenender," for instance. It offers generous capacity while still meeting carry-on requirements. Prefer something smaller? The "Urbanistin" fits the bill perfectly. Its spacious front pocket secures with a zip and accommodates a smartphone. The slim shoulder strap provides three carry options – wear it as a crossover bag, shoulder bag, or handbag.
