Welcome to the Roaring Twenties
The expansive bar anchors the room.
Since April, Mainz has welcomed a striking new addition: Salon 3Sein on Große Bleiche. Renowned restaurateur Norbert Schön, alongside his wife and partner Maribel Arnau and interior architect Sophie Kampf, transformed a former copy shop into a distinctive new space. Arnau, originally from Valencia, infuses the menu with authentic Spanish culinary flair.
"Everything we create is handmade"—this philosophy extends to both cuisine and furnishings, most sourced and crafted by the owners themselves. Drawing inspiration from the 1920s, the team combined clean lines and refined materials with an exotic sensibility, allowing the architecture to truly shine. The result—green marble, bespoke tables, two restored 19th-century servants' tables, parrot-patterned wallpaper, emerald velvet sofas, palms, and brass accents layered throughout—speaks for itself. Bauhaus influence unmistakably lingers in every corner.
The commanding bar serves as the room's centerpiece, evoking Edward Hopper's iconic "Nighthawks"—with one key difference. Salon 3Sein opens at 9 a.m., serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner before closing at 2 a.m., ensuring guests can linger for a late-night drink. At the bar, you'll find an intimate tropical setting perfect for sampling both classic cocktails and creative new house creations.
"We wanted to create something without limits," Schön explains. The result is a seamless fusion of lounge, bar, and restaurant—a concept that welcomes every generation.
