Welcoming atmosphere

Form, colour, function and technology – in perfect harmony

Every detail of this home was tailored to meet the owners' needs. The project was driven by a deliberate focus on designing for graceful aging. After SDW Design had already overseen several renovations in the previous residence, the firm was chosen to shape this new home in the Elbe suburbs. Architectural design was provided by Reinhard Siegmeier's office.

The owners—as with their former home—envisioned personal retreats for each resident, a spa sanctuary featuring a swimming pool, sauna and fitness room, plus a guest suite for visiting family and future nursing care. Across three floors, 300 m² of thoughtfully organised living space unfolds. The ground level opens with a striking entrance hall that flows through two substantial brass-finished glass doors into the living and dining zones. The upper floor houses private retreats, while the guest apartment sits beneath the roofline. The wellness area in the basement spans 110 m². Stairs and an elevator provide access to all levels.

SDW Design masterfully captures the building's architectural language through disciplined, refined design. The bronze tones of the aluminium-finished windows flow through the interiors, guiding the selection of light switches, brass-finished glass doors, hardware, living room sliding doors, and the entrance hall's statement wall. The wooden flooring showcases a contemporary take on Hungarian herringbone parquet on the ground floor, with delicately narrow planks gracing the upper levels. Throughout the home, materials and colours echo in subtle combinations, weaving together a cohesive, harmonious whole.

Every lighting element and understated ambient illumination was meticulously planned and integrated with the furnishings. The refined, delicate design vocabulary combined with crystalline spatial clarity—layered with natural materials and warm tones—creates an unpretentious, serene, elegant interior. It feels genuinely lived-in while honouring each resident's individuality. Custom built-in cabinetry provides essential storage without intrusion. A smart home system orchestrates all house, lighting and media technology: cutting-edge systems, discreetly integrated, that seamlessly enhance the welcoming comfort of every room.
