Refined Backdrop
New flagship store with restrained design for bold product presentations
Since 2020, the wellness brand Vaay has called Berlin home with a second location. Like the pop-up store before it, the new flagship store was designed by Batek Architects—with the same philosophy of using minimal, deliberately placed elements to frame the brand experience. Located in the Mitte district at Jägerstraße 28–31, this 27 m² ground-floor shop in a historic building features a generous street-facing window. The interior architecture—finished entirely in white—intentionally steps back to let Vaay's striking graphic identity take center stage.
The design rests on two key elements. First, two of the shop's three walls are clad in vertically oriented, white-stained spruce wood slats, with integrated display surfaces for the product lineup. Second, two custom free-standing pieces anchor the space: a sales counter positioned across one side wall features white powder-coated steel on its front and white-stained spruce on its back. Crowned with an Oluce "Atollo" table lamp, it radiates warmth and serves as a welcoming focal point. A second element—a steel-clad cube positioned in the window and doubling as a planter—completes the furniture scheme. Grey linoleum floors provide a neutral base, while a vibrant neon red "Eave" sofa by Menu cuts through the minimalist palette, drawing immediate attention from the street.
