Maria, Sissi, Alois, Franz – these traditional Bavarian names grace the 23 apartments of the new One Bavaria Homes, located near Munich's Theresienwiese. But expect no kitsch here. Instead, visitors encounter timeless elegance and refined simplicity, a vision brought to life by renowned designer Matteo Thun. The complete redesign showcases Thun's signature aesthetic throughout – furniture, fixtures, and fittings all united by a stringent design philosophy that prioritizes sustainability without compromise.

Handcrafted furnishings, bespoke lighting, carefully curated accessories, custom wallpapers, premium carpets, and thoughtfully designed bathrooms create a contemporary sanctuary infused with alpine character. "One Bavaria Homes embodies zero design and simplicity – understated, yet inviting," Thun explains. Throughout the project, he prioritized materials that are easily recyclable, naturally sourced, and resource-conscious. Wood takes center stage, chosen for its breathing quality, calming presence, and natural warmth – plus its ability to store CO₂. "We believe in building with wood, bringing nature indoors," Thun notes. The hotel showcases approximately 30 m³ of timber, complemented by natural materials like sand, stone, and glass. Thun-designed tables, sofas, armchairs, and beds feature linen or velvet upholstery with dark green cord detailing that reinforces the alpine aesthetic. The color palette – greens, off-whites, beiges, and browns – maintains a harmonious connection to nature across all upholstered pieces, curtains, and English Axminster carpets. Accent pieces from the Matteo Thun studio – alpine-flower cushions, vases, and yellow mountain-pine candles – complete the story. The lighting scheme emphasizes indirect illumination throughout. Vescom vinyl wallpapers in classic patterns contribute authentic texture and depth, their sophisticated printing evoking luxurious tactile fabrics. The gradient green tones create an interplay of color that brings the essence of nature into each room. Bathrooms feature Duravit washbasins and Geberit shower toilets, while Florim's pressed-sand floor tiles – evoking Venetian terrazzo – reinforce the sustainability narrative.
