Lenka Kühnertová, born in Prague, studied communication design at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. She discovered her love for textiles during her studies through a project-based semester assignment. In 2014, she founded Kühnertová Manufaktur at Neckartor and has since been offering tailor-made design concepts with individual screen printing techniques and a narrative approach for projects in the fields of architecture, interior design, interior decoration and fashion. Each product is created on site in her Stuttgart factory using a complex textile screen printing process. Hand printing allows for flexible surface design with special printing effects, and the colours are lightfast, washable and environmentally friendly. In order to have control over the result down to the finest nuances, Kühnertová mixes the printing inks herself, with liquid pigments allowing for the most precise dosages. Once the motif, material and colour selection phase is complete, the films for exposure and the screen templates for flat printing are created. The motifs are transferred to the film foil manually with black ink or plotted. Each product is unique.

Lenka Kühnertová attaches particular importance to customer proximity: once a month, she opens the doors of her workshop and invites customers and interested parties to a regular meeting with different thematic focuses. The designer then provides an insight into the creative processes, explains textile printing and answers questions about her work.
