Paula García de Salazar merges traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology
Paula García de Salazar is an architect and designer. After completing her studies in Madrid and Milan, the Spanish-born creative relocated to Munich in 2012, where she established her design studio RAIIZ in 2023. The name draws inspiration from the Spanish word "raíz"—meaning "root"—a fitting choice that reflects her design philosophy: weaving together her architectural foundation with a deep passion for art and design.
Since 2023, Paula García de Salazar has been part of the Ruffinihaus Creative Hub—alongside 35 other young businesses, she occupies a studio in Munich's historic Old Town for a two-year residency. Here, her new collection takes shape. Driven by a vision to create distinctive, handcrafted design objects that are both functional and visually compelling, each piece also reflects its owner's personality. This is why every design can be customized in size and color. For García de Salazar, each creation is a creative exploration: she combines diverse materials, forms, and hues until they converge into a harmonious composition. Her Borobil table lamp, crafted from lacquered wood, exemplifies this approach. With its understated design emphasizing rounded contours and clean lines, it complements any interior aesthetic. The Triku pendant light features an elegant silhouette in acrylic glass, with slats available in various colors—which can also be mixed and matched for personalized color play. The Uhin mirror showcases lacquered wood with subtle relief embossing inspired by wave patterns. The Iris mirror—named after the eye's iris—plays with color gradients. Both mirrors measure 48 centimeters in diameter.
