Striking Design at the Pulse of the City
The niu Hub Brings Urban Living and Contemporary Comfort to Mörsenbroich
Positioned directly on the northern access road near Mörsenbroicher Ei, the niu Hub has earned its name—it's the beating heart connecting Düsseldorf's city center, trade fair grounds, and airport. This is the third hotel from the Novum Hospitality Group in the state capital, and it's part of a mixed-use complex that also encompasses the acora Düsseldorf City Nord residential tower. Designed and developed collaboratively by the Düsseldorf firms RKW+ Architektur and Weber Architekten, the project was realized under the direction of Novum Hospitality with development by Düsseldorf-based Peker Holding.
The design makes an immediate visual impact: a 180-meter façade with staggered heights showcases extensive glazing and light-toned tiles across six stories. Below, an underground parking garage provides over 188 spaces. The complex houses 235 hotel rooms and 196 apartments across roughly 56,000 m². Guest rooms—available in Tripster, Townster, and Hipster categories—feature premium comfort, climate control, and smart TVs. The Open Living Lobby serves as an informal hub for work and relaxation, while the 24-hour reception offers refreshments and local insights. Inside, the aesthetic is distinctly modern: soft grey palettes punctuated with color, layered textures, and furnishings that evoke warmth and authenticity—drawing inspiration from mid-century modern and Scandinavian design traditions. The public spaces showcase striking street art installations by Berlin-based artist Jumu Monster, whose Chilean-Peruvian heritage informs her distinctive visual language. True to the niu brand philosophy, the hub champions social sustainability: guests can bring "sleepover buddy" plants to their rooms for a modest fee, and opting into the "blue card" program—skipping daily housekeeping—earns a complimentary drink voucher. Both initiatives benefit the Nader Etmenan Foundation, a charitable organization supporting vulnerable communities through meaningful social programs.
