a splash of colour
Bold colour brings life to the new workspaces of an IT company
Tech and IT don't have to feel corporate and drab—far from it. stankeinteriordesign from Euskirchen has created vibrant, contemporary work environments for MobiLab Solutions, a Cologne-based software company. Perched directly on the Rhine, their new offices pulse with a striking, richly saturated colour palette—from deep blues and bold reds to vibrant purples. Large-scale typography set against these coloured grounds reinforces the company's core values, helping employees reconnect with their organization's mission every single day.
The transformation began by dismantling the dated, compartmentalized layout—goodbye long corridors and isolated offices. In their place: expansive, light-filled areas that frame spectacular views of the Rhine and iconic Cologne landmarks. The Severinsbrücke bridge, the Chocolate and Sports Museum, and the soaring cathedral now frame the interiors naturally. At the core sits the central townhall—a flexible hub with mobile furniture that adapts seamlessly from intimate gatherings to large-scale events. The formerly monotonous corridors now feature a dynamic floor treatment, with bold colour bands that seem to flow organically from hallways into office zones and up the walls. The strategy is deliberate: high-energy colour in circulation spaces and transitional areas, while focus zones remain calm and neutral. In the generous work areas, teams cluster around long benches in a flexible, non-assigned seating model. Modular think tanks and phone pods punctuate the central zones, functioning as self-contained room-within-room systems that provide both visual separation and acoustic isolation. Carefully coordinated colour palettes make these pods appear almost immersed in hue, creating seamless unity with adjacent surfaces. Lounge furniture and accessories—natural wood and charcoal MDF pieces topped with company-coloured cushions—reinforce the palette with strategic pops of colour. A sophisticated lighting scheme layers triangular light strips with organically curved suspended fixtures, shifting the mood from focused work to relaxed conversation. Generous greenery, integrated throughout the room dividers and main seating island, adds natural balance to the palette. The concept was realized in collaboration with PRG Projekt Rheinland.
