Clean Lines, Timeless Elegance
Tanja Branisavljevic crafts contemporary ceramics with modern sensibility
It started as a creative pursuit outside the office: In 2016, Tanja Branisavljevic enrolled in a ceramics course. Pursuing further training thereafter, the Düsseldorf-based artist developed a distinctive artistic voice. By 2018, she had established her own ceramics studio in Düsseldorf Pempelfort—and by 2020, she had transformed her passion into her profession. Today, she crafts hand-thrown ceramics for everyday life with meticulous care: from espresso cups and tea bowls to vases, pasta plates, and serving bowls. Every piece is food-safe and dishwasher-safe.
Clean lines define Tanja Branisavljevic's design philosophy. Her colour and form combinations are shaped by travels across the globe, a journey reflected in her collection names—Bali, Hawaii, Java, and Provence. She formulates each glaze by hand, ensuring entirely unique colour palettes. Specialising in tableware and vessels, her ceramics blend seamlessly with existing dinnerware, whether bold and contemporary or treasured heirlooms. The Barista series stands out as her bestseller: larger cups crafted for the perfect cappuccino and smaller espresso cups engineered to fit any standard portafilter machine, with complementary breakfast plates and bowls completing the range. Beyond her own studio, Branisavljevic co-founded The Clay Company in 2022 with colleague Lea Starke of Studio Starke Ceramics—a collaborative workspace where members bring their own ceramic visions to life.
