Powerful, invigorating, individual
Unused garden becomes an inspiring feel-good place with pool in the middle of a magnificent landscape
A large garden next to the house with a magnificent view that the residents tend to avoid rather than use - how can that be? Sure, it simply didn't offer any quality of stay. That was all about to change, because a redesign was on the cards. The garden was to become the focal point of life in the warmer months. To achieve this, the family wanted a pool and different feel-good areas. Which was not so easy, because the large, angular pool shifted the proportions in the garden unfavorably. It first had to be harmoniously integrated into the landscape.
Jürgen Wragge's garden planners developed a concept with a great deal of empathy and the aim of offering users real added value with the redesign. To visually enlarge the plot, they added additional walls and filled in a slope into the lower part of the garden. A stream ends directly at the pool in a small pond, which keeps the water flowing even when it is switched off and conveys a sense of liveliness. The fact that it does not flow into the pool is not visible: a bridge separates the two areas and conceals the transition. Freely shaped natural stone slabs soften the sharp edges of the pool. For the nature-loving clients, it was particularly important to use high-quality natural materials. This can be seen, for example, in the stream with pond for the water supply, the varied and insect-friendly planting and the nature-friendly lighting elements.
This extensive garden with water features takes a lot of time to maintain, which is why the garden professionals from Wragge are on site once a month during the main vegetation period - or more often if necessary. Planning the garden redesign and coordinating the external trades took around two and a half months. The implementation was initially delayed due to delivery problems on the part of the pool builder. Construction of the pool began last February - in June, the residents were able to enjoy the view from their garden in the cooling water for the first time. The garden has not been unused since.
