Spatial and Functional Diversity

Custom-designed new work environment for a technology agency

Offices have evolved beyond simple workspaces. With smart communication tools and robust digital infrastructure, desk work thrives equally well at home. "The modern office must inspire," say Moritz Köhler and René Rauls, founders of Stuttgart-based Studio Komo. "It demands unprecedented appeal, attractiveness, and comfort." For Thorit, a technology agency, they've crafted an office design brimming with unexpected touches—from Amazonian vistas and a whimsical doghouse to a flourishing vertical garden.

In just three months, the team created a branded space precisely calibrated to the company's identity while fostering a warm, inviting atmosphere. A key requirement: visual connections between zones without compromising focus and concentration. The offices occupy a new building originally configured with conventional, compartmentalized rooms—a long dark corridor flanking individual offices on either side. The solution? Bespoke glass walls that replace fixed partitions, subtly transforming spatial perception with minimal intervention. Diagonal graphics embedded in the design echo the company's corporate identity. At the heart sits an office marketplace—a gathering hub where teams naturally converge. The glass walls amplify this connective spirit, ensuring sightlines to colleagues throughout the space. Integrated power outlets let employees seamlessly plug in their devices.

The design weaves together oak cabinetry, lacquered surfaces, linoleum work surfaces, and acoustically tuned materials. Verdant tones and warm wood hues create an organic, welcoming feel—reinforced by an abstracted jungle motif across the walls. Strategic carpeting enhances acoustics and residential comfort. Nearly all furnishings were custom-designed and handcrafted by skilled carpenters. Built-in elements flow seamlessly, fostering positive energy while articulating the agency's brand identity. Embedded in the ceiling's acoustic panels, daylight-balanced LEDs provide crisp illumination. Pendant fixtures with warm, incandescent-like glow round out the lighting scheme.
