A lively interplay of materials, colors and light - the Swiss studio Bel Etage came up with a very special interior concept for the retirement home of a retired couple who are young at heart. Around 30 years ago, the architects had already completed the interior design for the owners' detached house - which they liked so much that they had the Swiss interior specialists design their new apartment again. They wanted a modern yet timeless design that would be just as easy to live in when they were older. The main challenge was to design the rather small living space in such a way that a certain generosity could be felt.

This consideration led to the creation of a dining table approximately five meters long and one meter wide with a top made of fine European walnut, which rests on a base made of simple, lightly textured, large-format ceramic tiles and also serves as a kitchen island. The pendant light placed above it with spheres at different heights is flexible and slightly playful, emitting a pleasant light and at the same time being the eye-catcher in the room. The large, round kitchen handles echo the solid wood of the counter and give the kitchen an independent expression with a strong character. Additional storage space has also been created throughout the apartment, where practically no cupboards were provided as standard - a total of 15 storage units now keep the bedrooms, hallways and fitness room tidy and organized. The fronts were also fitted with sound-absorbing milling, which is not only functional but also visually appealing. The subtle playfulness of the living rooms/kitchen is continued in the toilets and bathrooms - although things are a little more colorful here: The client's favorite color was combined with a bold blue and brought together to create an independent graphic. Towel rails, shampoo holders and shelves were designed and manufactured especially for this property in line with the motto of functionality, design and spaciousness. The same color flooring ensures calm and continuity - in the bedrooms a simple and light oak parquet, in the kitchen and bathroom area a very easy-care ceramic floor. The color scheme in the simple, friendly beige tones of the floor materials is continued in the ceiling.
