Walnut Meets Natural Stone

Two existing bathrooms beautifully transformed with timeless, accessible design

With meticulous precision, FV2 Architektur transformed two existing bathrooms in Munich's northeast into refined spaces outfitted with premium finishes. Durable materials—natural stone and walnut wood, complemented by custom joinery—define the contemporary aesthetic. The team also upgraded all sanitary and electrical systems while reconfiguring the layout to suit the residents' evolving needs.

Converting one bathtub to a spacious shower and adding grab rails to the other ensured both bathrooms are now accessible without sacrificing elegance. The design prioritizes materials that are both beautiful and built to withstand wet environments: large-format natural stone for floors and walls, walnut joinery, and polished chrome fixtures create a cohesive palette. Waterproof finishing techniques add another layer of refinement. Custom elements—including a ceiling-height shelf above the shower and integrated storage drawers along the tub front—maximize functionality. Backlit mirrors provide both practical storage and visual contrast against the grey stone. A frosted glass partition between the bathroom and toilet replaces the original solid wall, flooding the WC with natural light while orchestrating subtle plays of shadow. The newly opened bathroom now accommodates a generously proportioned shower, transforming the space through interplay of light and transparency.
