California lifestyle in the office – and a Munich communications agency is leading the way. Since 2009, BSKOM has created distinctive campaigns for companies, clinics, and healthcare initiatives. So when it came time to design the interior for their new offices on Sendlinger Straße, there was only one choice: make it equally extraordinary. Interior designer Sabrina Berger seized the moment with a clear vision: craft a bright, inspiring space radiating positive energy – one that feels international and delightfully unconventional.

"The light-filled room with its expansive industrial windows in this heritage-protected 1830s brewery building provided the perfect foundation for a design concept rooted in California's iconic light, colour palette, and aesthetic language," she explains. With her vision, she deliberately rejected the cool, generic feel of typical New Work offices in favour of something warmer and more distinctly personal—yet fully functional. The result: vintage furniture and fixtures paired with organically curved desks that support ergonomic work while serving as striking design statements. The concept extends to custom acoustic elements: wall tapestries featuring retro-inspired energy stripes, conceived in partnership with the BSKOM creative team and executed by Munich artist Silvie Penelope Schmidt using spray technique. A carefully calibrated colour palette marries soft pastels with vibrant accents, fostering positive energy and encouraging creative exchange. The limed oak parquet flooring, with its warm sand tone, completes the Californian aesthetic.

The glass walls of the executive office feature a colour-shifting film that transforms with the light – reinterpreting California's spectrum throughout the day and creating a stunning video call backdrop that carries the vibe beyond the office. The meeting room channels Palm Springs: complete with a swimming pool mural, spray-painted palm shadows, and a living cactus garden. Employees gravitate toward the open kitchen's bistro area and the inviting seating islands with vintage Togo sofas. "The light, breezy approach has genuinely shifted the team's energy, collaboration, and communication," notes Managing Director Eva Birle. The effect? Staff now choose to work in the office most days – even though they have the flexibility to work remotely. That's the power of a space that feels like an escape.
