Bad Saarow Apartment – Refined Relaxation
Since around 1900, Berlin's elite have sought refuge in Bad Saarow to unwind. The spa town's allure lies in its distinctive blend—pristine lakeside location, water sports, thermal mineral waters, and therapeutic mud baths—a combination that established it as a coveted villa destination during the Gründerzeit era. Visionary architects Emil Kopp and later his son Ernst, alongside landscape architect Ludwig Lesser, shaped the town's character. That legacy continues today with internationally acclaimed firms like David Chipperfield, whose Marina Apartments exemplify this evolution. These exclusive weekend and holiday residences offer an intimate retreat—dreamlike and secluded—nestled directly on a bay along the western shore of Lake Scharmützel.
Ingo Dierich Interior Design was commissioned to design and implement the interior architecture and lighting for a private apartment. Drawing visual inspiration from the forest-adjacent setting, dark wood materials paired with black and F&B No. 47 green smoke establish the design's defining character. Premium natural materials were selected throughout, prioritizing longevity and quality. Given the requirement for turnkey delivery, the existing parquet flooring and electrical infrastructure were carefully integrated into the design. A sophisticated lighting control system was subsequently installed. The Groove design fronts in American walnut and the distinctive green shade appear repeatedly across multiple spaces, creating visual continuity. All kitchen cabinetry was crafted in-house using modern Homag machinery, with the washing machine and dryer seamlessly integrated behind matching furniture panels.
The project showcases premium products from established manufacturers and trusted partners, with the designer personally selecting specialized trades including painters and electricians. Planning commenced from the structural shell stage, completing the entire project in five months from initial consultation. Throughout execution, the office leveraged a curated network of regional master craftsmen, functioning as a single, seamless point of contact—managing everything from individual room details to the property as a whole.
