Aesthetic and functional
Gerdesmeyer Krohn design studio is defined by clean lines and purposeful simplicity.
Jonas Krohn and Christoph Gerdesmeyer first connected as product design students at Aachen University of Applied Sciences. Their discovery was revealing: they shared the same vision of what good design means. Both believe in creating functional products where design serves the user—not the ego—with meticulous attention to detail. This shared philosophy inspired them to launch Gerdesmeyer Krohn in Ehrenfeld in 2015.
The studio's collection includes the Cap wall shelf, a two-tier system thoughtfully designed for living. The shelf accommodates everyday essentials—candles, glasses, a bedside lamp—while the vertical rear pocket cradles books and magazines. Crafted from blue-galvanized sheet steel, Cap demonstrates how material and form can work in concert. The Frame table epitomizes minimalist design with maximum flexibility. Beginning with a standard 24-by-9-centimeter configuration, it adapts fully to each client's vision, with powder-coated steel framing supporting Fenix Compact tops. Whether dining or café seating, the table's clean geometry and subtle proportions open a spectrum of color possibilities. Completing the range is their tableware series, developed in partnership with designer Henning Lehmkuhle—currently in prototype phase. Beyond plates and cups, the team is refining matching cutlery that echoes the refined proportions of the pieces themselves.
