A garden design project featured in a book caught the homeowners' attention and led them to Arnold Gartengestaltung. Following an initial consultation, they engaged Andreas Käpplinger to reimagine their existing garden. Their vision included a generous terrace, a pool with a retractable deck, plus a sauna and garden house—all while creating an attractive visual connection between the garden and their home.

From material selection through site visits with nurseries and pool suppliers to securing building permits, the entire project was completed in just four months—complete with irrigation and lighting systems. The efficiency was made possible by a dedicated network of skilled craftspeople who understood and embraced the project's vision.

The design's defining feature is a formal, elevated lounge and relaxation area with an integrated pool at ground floor level. A wide series of steps and seating terraces with integrated planters ease the transition to the lower garden zone. Here, sweeping planting beds of grasses and lavender, anchored by existing birch and pine trees, frame an expansive lawn. The landscape architects thoughtfully preserved all mature trees and relocated shrubs to the gardens of family and friends. They also orchestrated the lighting design and automated irrigation system, while the site electrician integrated controls inside the house for customizable lighting scenes. The garden shed houses all irrigation and pool management systems.

The wooden surfaces are finished in thermo-ash—a material ideal for pool-side terraces. This thermally treated wood resists warping and exhibits minimal swelling or shrinkage. The planners prioritized sustainably sourced European timber, a choice extended to both the garden house and sauna pavilion.

Since opening, the owners have embraced their new garden, pool, and sauna—even using the space for work. The maintenance demands remain refreshingly minimal. To keep everything thriving, their landscape maintenance team provides regular care, fertilization, and technical monitoring.
