Design and Acoustics à la carte
Two compelling examples from the hospitality sector
A memorable dining experience engages more than just the palate—as the saying goes, "we eat with our eyes first." Interior design, lighting, furniture, and surface finishes work together to craft the perfect atmosphere in hotel bars and restaurants. Yet acoustics play an equally vital role: what we hear directly shapes how we taste, making sound quality essential to the overall dining experience.
Two compelling case studies from the hospitality industry reveal how Troldtekt design solutions deliver impact both visually and acoustically.
A Culinary Oasis on the Fairway
After a comprehensive renovation, the dining facilities at Golfpark Kurpfalz Limburgerhof strike an impressive balance between timeless elegance and contemporary design. Whether you're unwinding after a round of golf or simply savoring the spectacular views as a guest, this course between Speyer and Mannheim delivers on every front. The young architects at ADS Architekten (Speyer and Mannheim offices) have achieved something remarkable: they've replaced the outdated glass annex with a striking timber-framed structure—featuring a fully enclosed roof, expansive glazing, and a sheltered terrace—all while maintaining seamless accessibility. Warm wood and floating luminaires Working in close collaboration with interior designer Jürgen Tekath, the team completely reimagined the walls, ceilings, and flooring. Solid timber beams running across the sloped, skylit ceiling complement the warm oak parquet beautifully, creating an inviting ambiance. Above, a series of rounded pendant lights seem to drift weightlessly through the generous space like a miniature solar system. The layout gracefully accommodates multiple zones: a spacious dining area, a striking bar anchored by a brass-faced counter, and a lounge separated by glass and steel partitioning and warmed by a brass-clad gas fireplace. Floor-to-ceiling steel shelving provides subtle spatial definition.
Linear Elegance by the Fjord
At Strandtangen restaurant in Skive, Denmark, premium ingredients and thoughtful design converge to create an unforgettable experience. The milled, black acoustic ceilings establish an intimate atmosphere while casting subtle patterns of light and shadow. Designer Søren Vester, a Danish Design School graduate, exemplifies how sophisticated material choices shape a space. As a specialist in interior design, concept development, and branding, he transforms everything from restaurants to residential homes. In Skive's elegant Strandtangen, Vester employed the Troldtekt® Line system to realize a refined interpretation of Nordic cuisine aesthetics. "Troldtekt Line erases the joints between acoustic panels, unifying the entire ceiling surface," explains Vester. Among nine signature designs offering countless variations, the Troldtekt Line ceiling proved essential to the restaurant's overall visual identity. The result: seamless, serene ceiling planes that speak to understated sophistication.
