A Blooming "Garden House"
Where architecture, interior design, and brand identity converge in a unified design and boutique hotel concept
Nestled in Metzingen's historic centre, this striking new design and boutique hotel welcomes guests with an unmistakable sense of home. The building speaks a forward-looking architectural language while responding to the desires of a design-savvy clientele—and throughout, plants take centre stage, both on the façade and within the interiors. Plan2Plus was commissioned to weave together architecture, interior design, and brand identity into a cohesive, distinctive whole. The result is a clear and unmistakable design language built on carefully contrasted, high-quality materials—a philosophy of less is more. Room interiors feel expansive and immersive, anchored by floor-to-ceiling elements and flowing spatial compositions. Intelligent lighting design amplifies this sense of depth, playing subtly with light and shadow. Three-dimensional floral motifs—featuring endangered plant species native to the surrounding biosphere reserve—emerge from the walls, infusing the spaces with timeless sophistication, a connection to nature, and genuine warmth. Openwork textiles dialogue with natural, tactile surfaces, while each carefully considered detail, material, and colour reinforces the overall atmospheric composition. The building's striking façade echoes this same verdant character. Drawing from the rich flora of the Swabian Alb and choreographed with lighting effects, this living exterior does more than impress visually—it actively cools, absorbs sound, and purifies the air. The project earned both the German Design Award in gold and the International Property Award.
