Penthouse with thoughtful color and material palette

A penthouse with many rooms and countless distinctive features: this residence showcases the interior design expertise of hansen innenarchitektur, with a carefully considered colour and material palette throughout. Custom-made solutions are evident from the moment you enter the open foyer, where a bespoke wall unit marks the boundary between the public entrance and the private quarters—housing a fitness room, sauna, and utility area. A skylight floods the foyer with natural daylight, while an overhead track with discreet spotlights takes over when evening falls.

The kitchen forms the centrepiece of the penthouse, flowing seamlessly into an open-plan living and dining zone. To conceal the ventilation system, the ceiling was dropped—a design move that simultaneously anchors the kitchen as a distinct zone. Above, a striking black metal shelving unit with frosted glass shelves reinforces this visual separation while allowing the extractor hood to recede discreetly and creating display space for decorative items. Both the work surface and dining table are crafted from a pure mineral ultra-compact material—remarkably resilient despite its slim profile. While the kitchen cabinetry faces are white, the dining-side wall is finished in glossy black, echoing the furniture arrayed along the room's longer wall. Oak accents soften these expanses and reference the flooring material throughout. The wall-mounted furniture along the dining and living zone appears weightless and floating, despite its substantial size, each element thoughtfully positioned to serve its function. The bedroom is accessed through the dressing room from the living area. The dressing room's right wall is lined with sliding-door wardrobes, while the left is fully clad—creating a compact storage nook beside the bathroom. An additional built-in wardrobe seamlessly separates the dressing area from the bedroom.

The dressing room also connects to the bathroom, where a generous washbasin with twin wall-mounted taps commands attention. Lighting fixtures are discreetly integrated into the compartments above the tub, while a modest open shelf at one end displays decorative perfume bottles. A spacious walk-in shower, complete with a recessed niche for toiletries, is enclosed by a fixed glass partition. Large-format sandstone-look tiles create a visual dialogue with the wood surfaces and parquet flooring of the adjoining dressing room.
