Transparent Elegance

Contemporary Workspaces at Frankfurt's Historic Intersection

Where a 1950s building and roundabout once defined this space, an architecturally bold new structure now takes center stage. At Baseler Platz—positioned between the Main riverbanks and the railway district—the "Kreisler" project introduces an office and commercial building that responds thoughtfully to its urban context while embodying transparency, visual lightness, and a sophisticated approach to contemporary work environments.

The Kreisler transcends its role as a mere office building—it's an urban design manifesto. Its sweeping curved corner, rising up to twelve storeys, reimagines the classical European perimeter block. Rising from a seven-storey podium that harmonizes with the neighbourhood's proportions, the tower ascends with architectural grace. The structure engages with the rhythm of existing arcade patterns, expanding their cadence generously—culminating in an expressive cantilever at Baseler Platz. The horizontally articulated glass façade, recessed cornices, and elegantly staggered upper levels create a sophisticated dialogue between the area's diverse scales—from the dense Wilhelmine character to the monumental forms along the Main riverfront. The result: a striking gateway to the station district and a confident statement facing the river. Street-level programming—lobby, dining, and retail—activates the public realm. Inside, the building fulfills its exterior promise: openness, flexibility, and exceptional spatial quality define the workspace for approximately 1,500 employees across 19,000 m². A soaring central atrium, open across all levels with a suspended staircase at its heart, serves as both vertical spine and dynamic stage for interaction and movement. The clearly proportioned 1.35-metre structural grid enables true flexibility—from cellular offices to expansive open-plan and activity-based working environments.

The glazed façade maximizes natural light and creates rich visual connections—both outward and inward. Generously planted roof terraces, created by the stepped setbacks of the upper floors, offer stunning views across Frankfurt while providing outdoor workspaces of exceptional quality. The LEED Gold-certified building also excels in sustainability: state-of-the-art heating, cooling, and ventilation systems deliver energy efficiency, while thoughtful amenities—bicycle parking with charging stations and e-mobility infrastructure—promote healthy, sustainable commuting and responsible resource stewardship.
