An Icon Reimagined: Photographic Artistry at Its Core

Leica Store: Where Retail Meets Gallery

Spread across two levels, the 270 m² store within the Kö-Galerie presents Leica's current product range—from precision cameras and lenses to accessories and specialized publications. The Leica Gallery complements this with rotating exhibitions showcasing contemporary photography. Schwitzke Group brought the interior design vision to life, executing the complete fit-out of the space with meticulous attention to detail.

The architects crafted a deliberate customer journey, beginning with a floor-to-ceiling glass façade that immediately captures attention and draws visitors toward the curated selection. The ground floor reveals products displayed in museum-quality counters and vitrines, alongside a welcoming community table for consultation and discovery. Polished concrete surfaces with recessed LED accents, blackened product walls, and a cast Pandomo floor create an intentionally minimal backdrop—allowing Leica's exceptional portfolio to command the space. This restrained aesthetic continues into the basement, where the Leica Gallery unfolds as a dynamic exhibition venue. The space transforms to showcase rotating exhibitions that celebrate the art of photography and invite visitors back with each new presentation. The inaugural exhibition, "Gehirnstürme" by renowned fashion photographer Joachim Baldauf, set the tone for what's to come. "We're proud to have honored Leica's exacting standards while creating a destination that strengthens Düsseldorf's standing in the photography world," notes Tina Jokisch, Managing Director of Schwitzke + Partner.
