Where Linear Meets Circular

Office building with seamlessly integrated lighting design

The Schumann Group's new office building is an innovative, creative workspace designed for collaboration and inspiration. Spanning two floors with 600 square metres of thoughtfully planned space, it combines multifunctional work areas, creative zones, and a seamlessly integrated lighting design. The open floor plan and generous timber construction spans create a bright, welcoming open office that adapts easily—lightweight curtains divide the space into distinct functional areas as needed. Communal work tables sit alongside quiet creative retreats, meeting rooms, and a kitchen lounge. Upstairs, a generous exhibition and event space comes alive through an integrated tiered seating platform.

The new building reflects the collective expertise of Schumann Group's diverse operations—furniture and interior design, contract furnishing, and project management—evident in every thoughtful design decision. The open upper floor and pre-installed building systems anticipate future expansion, while the tiered seating platform does double duty as clever integrated storage. Linear Paladio luminaires from Sattler dialogue with round Slim fixtures throughout, creating a unified and distinctive lighting language across both floors. Above individual workstations, the Paladio 35 Prism truly shines—its prismatic reflector delivers glare-free, flicker-free illumination that reduces eye strain and supports comfortable, productive work. Eight slender 3.37-metre fixtures span the office desks, complemented by additional Paladios measuring 1.41, 2.25, and 2.81 metres positioned strategically throughout. Finished in brushed anodised aluminium, their understated elegance harmonises seamlessly with the warm wood tones of the interior, becoming part of the space rather than competing for attention.

The flexible meeting zones employ 1.55-metre diameter Slim Direct fixtures, creating a striking counterpoint to the linear elements. These luminaires impress with their virtually invisible suspension and refined profile—lending the space an unexpected sense of weightlessness. Six brushed aluminium Fino Pendant cylinders (0.6 metres) accent the kitchen area, their warm, focused light inviting gatherings around the communal dining table. Upstairs, the interplay repeats: linear Paladios frame expansive free zones while round Slim pendants hover above the tiered platform, allowing luminaires alone to subtly define different functional areas. During breaks or presentations, the room transforms seamlessly. Every fixture connects to the building's DALI control system, enabling individual switching and dimming to suit the moment—adapting light to activity rather than the reverse.
