Craftsmanship and passion
Mariusz Rucki designs and hand-crafts wooden furniture and home accessories.
In 2014, master carpenter Mariusz Rucki established Herz & Hobel in Markt Schwaben, just outside Munich. Across 350 m² of dedicated workshop space, he creates bespoke furniture, built-in cabinetry, custom furnishings, shop installations, and home accessories. Rucki is committed to sourcing local woods and fostering genuine partnerships with his clients—guiding each project from initial concept through final installation.
Every design crafted in the workshop carries its own narrative—a story, concept, or moment of inspiration. Consider the DeStijl Shelf: Rucki conceived this piece just before the centennial of the Dutch artist collective's founding. The design channels the group's signature geometric clarity and minimalist aesthetic, drawing inspiration from Gerrit Rietveld's work and Piet Mondrian's "Composition with Red, Yellow, Blue and Black." Standing 1.45 meters tall, the shelf is engineered entirely from interlocking joints that require no screws—a detail that earned it the design award from Munich's Master School for Carpenters. Then there's the entrance wardrobe: a custom-built cabinet designed to harmonize with the bright, welcoming character of the entryway while providing full garment storage. The Herz & Hobel design responds thoughtfully to the client's needs, maximizing every inch of available space. Seamlessly integrated into the architecture, ceiling-height modules conceal a thoughtfully detailed wardrobe system—modular interiors with drawers, compartments, and hanging rails throughout. The execution combines solid oak with white lacquered MDF panels.
