Sustainable and Digital

"The Oval" in Golzheim – where smart new work thrives

Situated between Roßstraße and Kennedydamm, "The Oval" marks the beginning of a new chapter for Düsseldorf's fastest-growing office district. The location, just north of the city centre, boasts premium infrastructure and an impressive concentration of leading companies. Designed by BM+P Architects for Düsseldorf-based developer Gerch Group AG, the building's distinctive form revolves around a luminous central atrium. Its commitment to sustainability earned it LEED Gold certification, while its advanced digital infrastructure secured a rare WiredScore Platinum award—making it the first office building in the Rhine metropolis to achieve this distinction.

The elegantly curved glass façade features manually operated aluminium ventilation flaps and integrated external shading, ensuring optimal natural light with smart daylight and occupancy controls. A pared-down structural system—just three lift cores supporting the entire frame—creates unprecedented flexibility: each 2,000 m² standard floor can be tailored for one tenant or subdivided into three separate units. Combined with generous floor plates, this adaptability makes "The Oval" a natural home for diverse industries and working styles, from focused individual work to dynamic collaboration. Two ground-floor lobbies, linked by a glass passage, open onto six additional office levels crowned by a spectacular sixth floor. Its expansive roof terrace offers sweeping views across the Rhine and Düsseldorf's skyline—while smaller loggias and a verdant courtyard with terraces grace the intermediate floors. Underground, two parking levels provide 237 spaces plus dedicated charging stations for electric vehicles and bikes. But "The Oval" truly distinguishes itself through intelligent digital infrastructure: an in-house app serves as the backbone for all smart-office capabilities, enabling seamless booking of flexible workstations, meeting rooms, and parking.
