It began with a frustrating search: Florina Thaler couldn't find an elegant vegan leather bag that was both sustainable and classically chic. So in early summer 2021, this communications graduate took matters into her own hands, founding her label Consci to bring her vision to life – a refined bag crafted from plant-based leather.
Finding the right material was crucial. It needed to be sustainable and beautiful, while matching animal leather in durability and design. Her breakthrough came when she discovered a Mexican producer of innovative cactus leather. Made from nopal, a prickly pear variety, this vegan material is 100 percent plant-based – and its entire lifecycle reflects a commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. Thaler develops her collection in her Frankfurt-Niederrad studio, where each piece tells a story of thoughtful design. Her signature toiletries bag in cactus leather features four compartments of varying widths, offering dedicated space for essentials. The matching wallet showcases twelve card slots, two side pockets, and a zippered coin compartment – all handcrafted in Portugal with meticulous attention to detail. The shoulder bag, available in black, sand, and cognac, combines spaciousness with organization; exterior and interior zip pockets ensure everything stays in place.
