A good balance
Exterior and interior design interact in this villa
The owners love and live in nature. Their new home, a terraced house on a hillside, offers them a panoramic view of green valleys, castles and vineyards. The villa thrives on views, vistas and the flow of the surrounding landscape. Wherever you look, expanses and nature open up, perfectly set off by the weather, time of day and different moods.
The house impresses both in terms of its architecture, designed by the Rast architectural firm from Großbottwar, and its interior design, with an interplay of modern and sometimes pithy style. The Aboutlama office developed a holistic interior concept. An exterior wall, which is designed as a quarry stone façade, contrasts with the otherwise modern architecture. Panoramic windows frame the view into the distance like an oversized painting. They can be opened completely, allowing the interior and exterior spaces to merge. A surrounding outdoor living area is only thermally separated from the interior and is just as important as the interior. There, a strong wooden core penetrates the architecture vertically and forms the warm heart of the house. The rooms flow around this core and are formed by it. In contrast to this are the light-looking elements and surfaces, whereby the visual reference to the outside - even from these room areas - is always present. The seating area is bathed in warm colors, accentuated by heirloom textiles. The seating landscape is directionless - you can relax on the sofa both facing inwards and in connection with the terrace. The lamp above, which almost looks like a protective tent, accentuates the seating area with its shape and golden light, making it cozy. The deliberately grounded center sits in an airy environment. Textured leather, roughened linen hems and beaten stone edges complement the natural surroundings.
A good balance has also been achieved in the kitchen - strong, earthy surfaces have been harmonized with light, fine and modern elements. Between the cooking and dining areas is a fireplace placed in the middle of the room, which can be seen from all living areas and evokes associations with a campfire. Vintage furniture and heirlooms create a mature structure and a pleasant break from the new architecture, lovingly maintaining a balance between down-to-earth cosiness and expressive personality. Exotic living and decorative objects show that the residents are cosmopolitan and worldly. In the bathroom, cut natural stone edges reinforce a cave-like impression. Open-pored stone and vividly brushed wood create a small oasis in which to retreat.
