The Law Firm of Tomorrow
How wellbeing and New Work concepts are reshaping today's workplace
Since spring, an international commercial law firm has been welcoming its clients and employees to Edge HafenCity on Amerigo Vespucci Square, an office building that sets new standards in sustainability. It is pre-certified to the WELL Core & Shell Platinum standard – the highest certificate awarded by the International WELL Building Institute. The performance criteria assessed include air, water, nutrition, light, movement, thermal comfort, acoustics, low-emission materials and other factors.
Every workstation benefits from optimal natural and artificial lighting. Smart digital controls put employees in command of their workspace—freely adjusting temperature and lighting to suit their preferences. Air quality sensors and intelligent volume flow regulators in meeting spaces automatically fine-tune ventilation as CO₂ levels rise. The company's relocation of its German headquarters reinforces its unwavering commitment to its ESG strategy. Marketstudios designed the interior architecture and layout of the 3,000 m² office, with wellbeing at its core. The result is a carefully curated modern workspace that deliberately competes with the appeal of working from home. The design marries clean functionality with creative touches, producing an environment that inspires. Open collaborative zones encourage teamwork, while private focus areas support deep work. The studio space hosts team gatherings and client events, while the reimagined reception doubles as a co-working hub and client lounge—both standout features of the new office.
Carefully selected natural materials and warm colours create an inviting environment that promotes creativity and enhances well-being, while meeting sustainability goals in terms of circularity and improving the carbon footprint. Hand-picked design and selected art signal appreciation for employees. The use of innovative technologies increases efficiency and creates a relaxed and first-class working environment that is both inspiring and functional, meeting the needs of the modern workforce.
