Where Wood Meets Steel
Since 2016, 10 Knoten has been crafting enduring, refined furniture from wood, concrete, marble, and steel – each piece distinctly individual.
Authentic materials and Scandinavian design clarity combined with sustainable and fair production – that's the philosophy behind 10 Knoten. Alexander Dimitrios Marifoglou, known as Alex, is the creative force, founder, and managing director. With a background in business psychology, he's transformed his passion for furniture making into a thriving craft. Since 2016, he's been creating durable, beautifully minimal pieces from wood, concrete, marble, and steel. Each is handcrafted in Hamburg and Greece, and designed to be accessible.
Every material tells a story. Reclaimed scaffolding planks, bearing the marks of their former lives on construction sites, are carefully sanded and oiled multiple times before being transformed into tables, benches, coat racks, and shelves. Available in various sizes and formats. Precisely crafted steel legs – in natural or lacquered finishes – give each piece its distinctive character. The near-white Volakas marble with dark veining comes from Drama in northern Greece; the green marble hails from the island of Tinos. Paired with minimalist steel frames, these marble tables feel cool, clear, and distinctly Hanseatic in their restraint. Having family roots in Kassandra, Chalkidiki – a region facing economic hardship – Alex partners with local artisans: a stonemason and steel fabricator. 10 Knoten pays above-market wages to support sustainable regional development. All wooden and concrete components are manufactured in Hamburg, where final assembly, quality control, and shipping happen in a workshop nestled in Eimsbüttel.
