Workspaces that inspire – from steel fabrication to rail to logistics
ASSMANN designs customized work environments tailored to any industry
A mid-sized steel fabrication company, a pan-European food logistics operator, and a Deutsche Bahn innovation hub – what do these three projects have in common? ASSMANN and a newly realized feel-good office. As a comprehensive workplace solutions provider, this family-owned company developed bespoke designs for each client, from initial consultation through planning to final implementation. Each partner brought distinct priorities to the table: Wurst Stahlbau sought to strengthen team culture and create a genuinely welcoming atmosphere, while Nagel Group needed to enhance efficiency and flexibility across daily logistics operations. At Berlin's DB Gasometer, the challenge was equipping an entire innovation center for 2,000 employees with a modular, future-ready design that maximizes shared resources.
Wurst Stahlbau proves that demanding work and an inspiring workplace go hand in hand
This family-run metalworking heritage company has long partnered with ASSMANN. Their latest endeavor: transforming three locations with modern, human-centered workspaces. The priority? Employee well-being in an industry built on hard labor. The Meerbusch office achieves this beautifully – fostering collaboration, teamwork, and personal retreat in one cohesive design. In just four months, workstations, meeting rooms, and social zones came together with thoughtful functionality, comfort, and genuine warmth – plush seating, acoustic sophistication, and a cohesive color palette. "It's cool, and you feel instantly at home," notes Christina Schulz, Management Assistant at Wurst Stahlbau. "It's like stepping into a cozy living room and wanting to stay." A standout innovation: the ASSMANN SMART Locker – an intelligent, software-managed storage system – doubles as both personal storage and a handoff point for work materials.
Flexible workspaces designed for food logistics at Nagel-Group
As Europe's leading food logistics provider, Nagel Group moves tens of thousands of shipments daily. At their Versmold headquarters, ASSMANN partnered with a specialist retailer to build a flexible office model centered on desk-sharing, collaborative zones, and quiet focus areas. Complemented by intelligent locker systems and ergonomic furniture, this workspace delivers efficiency and well-being in equal measure – precisely calibrated for the pace and demands of modern logistics.
New Work at the DB Gasometer in Berlin
On Berlin's EUREF Campus, Deutsche Bahn's new digital hub consolidates its innovation division and opens collaborative space for approximately 2,000 employees. The striking circular building – anchored within the historic steel framework of a former gasometer – houses a forward-thinking workplace design. ASSMANN delivered not just flexible furnishing solutions, but creative answers to complex spatial demands. Employee voice mattered throughout: staff experienced the new environment firsthand at the ASSMANN showroom and shaped its evolution. "Thoughtful furnishing selections boost well-being, productivity, and creativity alike," explain ASSMANN Key Account Managers Julia Krieger and Axel Ellermann. "Co-working areas spark collaboration, while retreat spaces support focused work and genuine rest." This balance – adapting to each organization's unique needs – defines every ASSMANN project.
ASSMANN: Workplace innovators from Melle
These three projects share another constant: ASSMANN's collaborative partnership with specialist retailers and clients. The family business adapts its support to each need – starting with comprehensive needs analysis, facilitating design workshops, curating furniture collections, and ensuring timely delivery across full or phased implementations. Now in its fourth generation, this company exemplifies how modern workplaces are imagined, designed, and lived. Under the banner ALL YOUR WORKPLACE NEEDS, ASSMANN champions personalized workplace concepts that center on people and create environments where functionality, design, and human well-being converge.
